Custom Pocket Knife

Making of the perfect slip-joint:

Recently I decided to make a UK Legal slip-joint pocketknife that would stand up to daily abuse and would be easy to fix, & clean.

I used steel from an old miter saw and some pine for the handles. For the pins I decided to use
brass screws and aluminium bolts, which meant that I would be able to de-assemble / re-assemble it with a flat-head screwdriver.

Below are step by step photographs showing how I assembled the pocket knife.

The rough shape after being cut out of the saw.

The handle, main pin, &blade after being shaped and beveled

After screwing the the pins through one of the scales place one large washer
on the pivot pin.

Place another large washer on the locking pin.

Place a small washer on the locking pin.

Place the blade on the pivot pin.

Place another large washer on the pivot pin.

The finished product !
Sharpen it, oil it all up and screw it together, screw on the nuts, and file down the screws
flush with the bolts.

And there we have it, the perfect pocket knife !
