Bamboo Fire Torch

Making a Bamboo Fire Torch

In this post I am going to show you how to make a Bamboo Fire Torch. These can be used to help light up, or keep midges and other flying insects away from your camp.

Cut yourself 2 pieces of bamboo, one long and one short.

Take the smaller piece and split it in half.

Then take your longer piece and split it into quarters half of the way down the stick.
Push your smaller split pieces into the larger stick to make it expand.

First place on old rag or cotton wool to start the fire. I used a tissue socked in boiled
linseed oil.

Next place small pieces of wood and candle wax alternatively into the forks.
Then tie the top with an adjustable grip hitch. Finally, set it on fire.

Now you can set it on fire. This torch burned for approximately 15 minutes.
The more wood and wax that you put into the torch the longer it will burn for.

This project is not limited to bamboo only, you could use and green branch and
use thin strips of bark to tie the top instead of twine.
