How To Make A 'Buddy Burner'

How To Make A 'Buddy Burner':

Hello there. In this tutorial I want to show you how to make a buddy burner like the ones that they use in the scouts for cooking food and boiling water. These types of cooker are used as they are very fuel efficient. You can also use these inside a Hobo-Stove or something of that kind.

Items needed:
  • Sweet-corn can
  • Old cardboard box
  • Knife
  • Candles
  • Matches

Instructions:

Take an old sweet-corn tin and remove the wrapper. Then wash it and dry it.

Cut out strips of card  that are the same height as the tin. Then arrange in a spiral pattern.
Finally place two matches in the middle to allow you to set it on fire.

Melt enough candles to fill your tin until it is saturated. Then pour it into the tin.

Chill in the fridge until the wax has set and dried.

Then set it alight. I put mine inside my Hobo-Stove to burn.

And that's it, these are really easy to make and you only have to buy the candles. This type of stove is very fuel efficient and  can last upto 3 hours. Once they run out of wax then all you have to do is to melt some more wax and pour it in again. You can also just place a candle on the top of the stove just before you blow it out and let it melt. This is an alternative way to refuel it. Hobo-Stoves work well with this as they protect it from the wind, give you something to pace you cup or pan on, and channel the heat.
