Fallkniven DC4 review

Fallkniven DC4 review:

A comprehensive review on the ultimate field sharpening stone!

The Fallkniven DC4 is recognised as one of the best field sharpening stones on the market right now.
It comprises of a ceramic side and a diamond abrasive side, it also comes in a leather pouch which can be used for stripping if loaded with a stropping compound like chrome polish.

Fallkniven instructions
While some reviews suggest that the glue used to hold the stones together is dissolved by water we have not yet found this to be the case. Many people have suggested using Gorilla Glue to bind the stones together should they come apart.

The diamond side is mainly used to remove metal from the blade, while the ceramic side is for
honing the blade before stropping on a leather strop or belt.

Due to its size, the DC4 is one of the best stones to carry in the field if on a day or weekend hike as it will fit in your pocket of bag really easily and will always be there to give your knife that razor sharp edge.

Straight out of the box the ceramic side is very rough. It is recommended to take a used blade and sharpen it until the ceramic side is smooth before sharpening any high end expensive blades you may own to prevent scratching of the bevel. The smoother it is the better it works.

In our opinion you cannot get a sharpening stone for £19 to £22  much better than this, that can razor sharpen a knife in the field and at home equally well.  If after you sharpen your knife you strop it on a leather belt, or even the leather case that the stone comes with, you will find that you will have to sharpen it less as the edge will hold better.

We purchased the DC4 on Amazon for £19.83.

We rate this product:  5/5

This is due to its price, durability, and size.
