Custom knife #1: The template
In this blog-post I will be talking about a custom knife that I will be making. Hopefully at some point in the future I will also make a leather sheath to go with it.
Recently I saw a post on another website about how somebody recycled a saw and turned it into a knife. The idea sounded simple, so I decided to have a go.
First I found an old mitre saw that was blunt and sightly rusty. Then I chalked out the outline that I wanted. after making some minor adjustments I used a permanent marker and outlined the final design.
The knife's blade is about 10.5 cm long, and the handles are about 9.7 cm long. The knife itself will be full tang with the handles riveted on 3 mm with brass rods.
In the next post I will talk about how I propose cut it out and the how I will fit the scales onto the knife.
See you in part #2
